Fr Michael Kamutambo wrote from Mwenda in March to say that rainfall had been good and the river at Chipili was overflowing. Unfortunately the road to Mansa had been badly eroded and huge gullies had been formed as a result of the heavy rains.

At the time the parish was preparing for Palm Sunday and Good Friday prayers. He also mentioned the new civic administration within Chipili. He reported later that over 450 adults including the Chief and village Headman attended the Palm Sunday celebrations at St Josephs Church at Bunda Chunsu. Mr Zulu, the head teacher from the Anglican Community School was present, along with some of the teachers, and representatives from other denominations. The church would have been packed so the service moved to the school grounds to accommodate everyone.

The church building is in a very bad state and the school are no longer using it as a classroom during the week as the walls and poles are slowly weakening because the thatch has been eaten by termites and saturated by the heavy rains.
