Colin Rayson

Colin Rayson

Colin has lived in Ham in the parish of West Buckland since his marriage 54 years ago.  He has two grown up daughters and a grand-daughter.

He worked  in the printing industry at the County Gazette in Taunton until his mid 40s and then worked for BT in their Taunton office until he retired at the age of 62.  He recently took his grand-daughter round a heritage day at the printers in Milverton, as she was very interested to learn about what he used to do and the way things were done in the past.

Colin became a Christian “by default” after accompanying his mother-in-law to church.  It is something he grew into, and when there was a need for a new churchwarden he felt called to the role.  Although he is generally a quiet and un-assuming person, he felt this was something he could do with God’s help.  Now many years later (at least 20) he is still in the role.  His knowledge of the churchyard and records in West Buckland is invaluable.

Until a couple of years ago Colin played the euphonium in Wiveliscombe Brass Band.  He started when he was just 8 years old. He enjoys going for a walk on a sunny day, and is also handy with doing odds and ends of DIY.
